Harmonization of nomenclature and diagnostic criteria in toxicologic pathology, especially for rats and mice, has been a goal of pathologists working in the profession for many years. Recently, the Societies of Toxicologic Pathology from Europe (ESTP), Great Britain (BSTP), Japan (JSTP) and North America (STP) joined forces to develop an internationally-accepted nomenclature for proliferative and non-proliferative lesions for all organ systems in laboratory animals.  Dr. Monique Y. Wells of CNE participated in the development of nomenclature for the cardiovascular system.
